This summer, I’ve been putting in a lot of work to improve my game and get ready for the upcoming soccer season. I’ve been training my speed, agility, strength, and soccer skills so I can feel more confident and prepared when I’m on the field.
A big part of my summer training has been sprinting and speed work. I’ve been doing sprint workouts, quick footwork drills, and change-of-direction exercises to help me get faster, react quicker, and get to the ball sooner. I’ve also been working on my leg strength with workouts that will help me be stronger in challenges, stay balanced, and keep my energy up during games.
I’ve been also spending time working on my touches with the ball. I’ve been focusing on mastering my first and second touches, since those are so important in soccer. I want my first touch to help me control the ball quickly and set up my next move. I’ve also been practicing receiving the ball under pressure, passing, dribbling, and making quicker decisions.
I completed the full summer workout program for the Island Trees varsity soccer team, along side club training at SURF which has helped me stay focused and keep improving throughout the offseason. The workouts have not always been easy!
I’m excited to take everything I’ve worked on this summer. My speed, leg strength, agility, first touch, second touch, and overall soccer skills into the season. I’m looking forward to getting back on the field with Island Trees and SURF and continuing to grow as a player.
